University House is one of the oldest community agencies in London, founded in 1886. Our Legal Advice Centre provides free specialist legal advice, whilst our A2J Lab provides consultancy support and opportunities for access to justice project partnerships.
Anti-racism commitment: University House is set-up to litigate. We employ specialist lawyers with discrimination casework experience. We believe, amongst other things, that meaningful societal change must be fought for through litigation. Going forward, we will continue to devote significant resources towards targeted litigation.
We can provide housing advice under Legal Aid funding.
We can take referrals for First Tier Tribunal hearing representation.
We now provide second tier support to organisations in via our online Advice Portal.
We can support clients to use their Legal Expenses Insurance e.g. to fund their employment tribunal claims.
We have specialist employment advisers available by appointment.
We can provide family law advice under legal aid in addition to our family clinics which focus on domestic violence. The clinics are a collaboration between ourselves and a number of international law firms.
We're on the look out for admin volunteers to support our busy frontline advice work, apply here.
The Centre will be closed from Wednesday 20th December 2023 reopening Thursday 4th January 2024. If you need urgent advice during this period
